Meeting people and eating good food are two things Dave has always been passionate about.
On all of his travels Dave would gravitate to where any BBQ food was being cooked, from charcoal skewers in Satay Alley, Singapore to talking to BBQ pitmasters in the USA.
For many years Dave worked in media - on radio, tv and digital. It was while he was living in Sydney, working in radio, that he completed a cooking qualification. Ever since he has dreamt of owning a barbeque shack and sharing delicious BBQ flavoured food with people.
His love of smoking food and his collection of BBQs earnt him the name Smokie D.
The way Dave BBQs his food is is well-loved, particularly the way he transforms meat with his special blend of rubs, herbs and spices. Among friends and family he is famous for his beer can chicken, brisket, pulled pork and ribs cooked low and slow over charcoal and wood in one of Dave’s half a dozen barbeques.
While his meals are Keto and carnivore friendly, his roasted vegetables and veggie burgers are a source of delight for his vegan and vegetarian friends.
As part of your nights stay we will prepare a delicious three-course BBQ dinner with locally sourced food for two, finishing with something sweet, along with breakfast the next morning all served at Smokie D’s Barbeque Shack.
