At Big Sky, we offer hosted eco-farm stay luxury yurt glamping in our two beautiful yurts.
We are not just a room for the night, we are all about offering a relaxing experience, coupled with fresh, local produce beautifully barbequed by Smokie D.
We only ever have four guests per night. The yurts are far away from each other to ensure privacy.
Our price is $540.00 per night for two people ($270 per person). There is no minimum stay. This price includes a fantastic three-course BBQ dinner and yummy breakfast. It’s good wholesome country food and you won’t leave hungry.

Included in the price is complimentary tea and coffee which is located at Smokie D’s BBQ shack. You are welcome to relax in Smokie D’s BBQ shack, enjoy the views or read your book in front of the fire.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, or have any special requests, please let us know and we can design a BBQ menu to help you celebrate.
Our Yurts are names Sirius and Canopus - named after the two brightest stars we can see in the Southern Hemisphere. Both Yurts have their own bathrooms. When booking accommodation select the name of the Yurt you want to stay in. Canopus is off the grid (no electricity) but beautifully lit by solar lights. Both Yurts are insulated with natural wool to make them very snuggly and cool in summer. Meals are served in Smokie D’s shack.
The path leading to Canopus Yurt. This yurt is off the grid and is lit by solar and battery powered lights. It has its own private bathroom and you can charge phones etc in the shack. This Yurt is about a one minute walk to Smokie D’s shack where dinner and breakfast are served.

Both yurts come with robes and Canopus has a fire, just in case it gets a bit chilly and you want to stay cosy.
Sirius has electricity, its own private bathroom and is located next to Smokie D’s shack, where the meals are served.

Q. Can I just book accommodation?
Sorry no. Our passion is to share our beautiful space and Smokie D’s awesome BBQ food with you. We offer people the chance to unwind, relax, explore the Banks Peninsula and eat great, home-cooked food!
Q. Can we bring our own food and drink?
We are happy for you to bring snacks and what ever you want to drink while you are here. As we are a Farmstay we are not allowed to provide a kitchen with cooking facilities for guests. Complimentary tea and coffee is available all day.
