Welcome to international guests at Big Sky
We opened Big Sky just as Covid started and we are really grateful to all the domestic tourists who stayed with us in our first two years. This year we have welcomed our first international guests - people so far from the UK and America. It is absolutely wonderful to be talking to people from different countries - everyone is so happy to finally be traveling again. People from all over are embracing glamping and enjoying good BBQ food.
So far the number of people coming to New Zealand to see friends and relatives is recovering the fastest while other travel categories remain around half of their pre-Covid levels. That makes sense it has been too long since we all saw loved ones and friends.
We still have a long way to go to get back to where things were. Stats NZ data showed overseas visitor numbers in September 2022 were 58 percent of the volumes recorded in September 2019.
In September 2022, 151,300 overseas visitor arrivals were recorded compared with 261,800 in the same month in 2019.
Whatever the numbers at Big Sky we are so happy to meet international guests, as well as our lovely domestic travelers too.
